Well it's the end of April and Deakon is now a whapping six months old. One thing we had to understand about Deakon being so premature was, he had a lot of catching up to do compared to a term baby. The doctor's told us that he would be a little slow developmentally for the first little while of his life. So we have learned not to compare him to other babies. He's not like other babies, and technically he's only four months old. With that, when we go to the doctor we don't bother paying attention to what percentile he fits into, and all that other mumbo jumbo. We just focus on how much weight he has gained and what he has accomplished so far....
....Right now Deak is weighing in at 15 lbs. 2 oz. and is 26.5 inches long. He has the head control down, and thinks he's Mr. Independent because he can sit up. He just hasn't mastered staying up. :] He loves to chew on his thumb and pointer finger {don't worry he doesn't suck on them} and drools EVERYWHERE. He is the only baby I have seen that literally can't stand to spit up. He tries to swallow it every time {which is even more gross than just spitting up}. He smiles a ton and can laugh, but only for Preston {I'm not to happy about that part}It's so cute, it's our favorite thing he does. He also is a bit like his mommy and jabbers a lot. He'll tell you a story anytime. He's sleeping through the night {Yahooo!}and sleeps really good in his crib. He really is a happy baby and hardly fusses at all. Recently he's started eating baby food, lets just say it was an adjustment. Now we can't shovel it in his mouth fast enough...Oh, and he rolled over once! The happening was caught on camera. We were told however {by Grandma Stacia}, that it doesn't count because he couldn't get his arm out from under him. We disagree :]. He hasn't done it since though. Also in the past six months he has acquired many nicknames from many different people. We call him: Peanut, Mr. Mr., Deak, Deakster, and Boo Boo. Aunt Lyssie calls him Squish. Then there's Little Dude {Uncle B}, Bubba Chum {Grandma Stacia}, and the Man Cub (Grandpa Kenny}. I'm sure this won't be the end of them either...
....We love him the mostest! We are so blessed to have his little spirit in our home. He has brought Preston and I true happiness and a greater understanding of our purpose in this life. We love you little Squish, always have always will...
How fun! Love the pictures he has a lot of personality you can tell! So glad he is doing so well.
